How To Choose Between Wood Shed Kits
You need more space for your woodworking projects and have decided to get one of the Wood Shed Kits that are available and build your own
shed. You could just buy a pre-built storage shed, but they are pretty expensive compared to building your own and you can’t find one that really fits your needs.
Wood Shed Kits can vary in what they include so you want to check out each one to make sure you are getting exactly what you want. Here is a list of what can be included in a shed kit, you just have to decide which type of kit you need.
- Detailed Drawings – This is a must no matter what type of kit you decide on.
- Material List - Any good set of plans will include a complete material list. No matter what your woodworking project is, having a material list will save you time and money. Take your material list to a couple different lumber yards and get a quote, you will be surprised the difference in pricing and how much money you can save. By having a material list you also save yourself from going back and forth to the lumber yard because you didn’t have enough of this or that.
- Cut Sheets - These are an amazing time saver. They show you exactly how long and what angles to cut each piece of wood, no guessing or calculating required.
- Step by Step Detailed Instructions - It’s no different than trying to put a kid’s bike together or anything else that you get that is not pre-assembled. By having step by step instructions, you save yourself a lot of time and frustration.
- Hardware – Your typical Shed Kits will come with all the necessary hardware needed for the particular shed you are going to build. But, as with the material, you will pay more for the hardware than if you just buy a good set of plans to build your own shed.
- Material - Some Wood Shed Kits will also come with all the material you need for your shed and it will be pre-cut. This comes in handy for some people if they are really short on time and maybe they don’t have all the necessary tools for cutting the materials. However, this is quite a bit more expensive than just buying a good set of plans and buying and cutting your own material.
Now you know what your options are, it will make it a little easier in choosing from all the Wood Shed Kits that are available.
