DIY Outdoor Garden Shed Plans

It is the “forever ongoing” question in our house, where to put all of our stuff.  There is no more room left in the garage, with all the tools, workbenches, cars and holiday decorations, there just is no storage space for all of our gardening tools, mowers, etc..

So we decided to go online and find a set of DIY Outdoor Garden Shed Plans and we  decided to build a shed that was larger than we actually needed,  that way we would also have a workspace inside out of the weather.

Here are a few things to consider when making plans to build your own shed:

  • Security - Will your shed be located somewhere easily accessible by passerbyers or away from the house where you can’t see it?  If so, you may want to consider bars on the windows.  Also, lighting on the exterior of the shed.  It won’t be as tempting for intruders if it is well lit up at night.  And you definitely want a good heavy door with a bolt action lock.
  • Electrical and Plumbing - Things to think about for the interior.  Do you want a sink for washing up inside?  Do you need lighting and electrical outlets?  Are you going to put in a window unit for ac/heat?
  • Materials - Using pressure treated wood is always a plus.  You will pay a little more money, but in the long run, it will more than pay for itself, it will last longer and you won’t have to worry about termites.
  • Exterior Finish - Choosing a good quality primer and exterior latex enamel paint should be your first choice.  Your finish will last longer and be easier to clean.  Before applying your primer, make sure you have a clean surface.

An outdoor garden shed is a great investment. But if you are going to build your own shed, then get a good set of Outdoor Garden Shed Plans. They will more than pay for themselves by saving you time, money and frustration.
