Rabbit Hutch Plans “101″

Rabbit Hutch Plans
Rabbit hutches are built to keep cute little bunnies as pets or start breeding rabbit for money or food supply. It is important that your rabbit hutch plans be well thought-out and planned. It has a simple design. Square wooden corners, simple cabinet hinges and some chicken wire is all that is required. The wrong size of the wires can hurt small bunnies. The small doors can give you a big headache when it is time for maintenance.
Rabbits need clean and dry hutches to live in. They must be protected from wind, rain and the blazing hot sun. These can affect the life or death of the rabbits.
A new rabbit can be a great and exciting addition to your family. Rabbits enjoy living both indoors and outdoors. But, they are more comfortable when they are outside. Rabbits can deal with cold temperatures better than they do with warm temperatures.

There are two options to consider when you decide to build your own rabbit hutch:

1. All-wooden enclosure:
This is the most popular and common type of rabbit hutch. This hutch uses sturdy dependable plywood and not particle board. It serves as a home for your rabbit for a long time so it is important to use good supplies. However, this is not a good choice for a pet rabbit.
There are some Rabbit Hutch Plans that contains two different sections. One section will be completely enclosed, except for a small opening for your rabbit to enter and exit into the larger portion of the cage. It is recommended to have a wire bottom. This is because your pet will generally use any bedding as litter.
The larger section should approximately be twice the size of the enclosed area. This section will have a wire bottom and a wire door. This will allow proper ventilation to your rabbit. Ventilation is vitally important for a rabbit’s health. The roof of the rabbit hutch should be sturdy. Also remember to set the cage high enough off the ground to allow for circulation, at least 3 feet.
2. All-wire cage: This is an easy to make rabbit hutch. This is meant for indoor use but they are perfectly suitable to be made into outdoor rabbit hutches as well. It is best to put the roof sloping down towards the back in order to let rain or snow flow off. Cleaning this rabbit hutch once a week is sufficient for sanitary issues.
